How Yaesu System Fusion Works
Yaesu System Fusion; Is a digital communication system designed specifically for amateur radio, offering flexibility by supporting both analog FM and digital C4FM (Continuous 4 – Level Frequency Modulation) modes. This makes it versatile for users transitioning from analog to digital communication or for those who want to maintain compatibility with both systems.
Key Features of Yaesu System Fusion;
- Dual – Mode Operation (Analog and Digital): Analog FM Mode: This traditional mode allows system fusion radio to communicate with older FM radios, ensuring backward compatibility. C4FM Digital Mode: A digital mode that provides clearer voice communication, better noise resistance, and additional data services.
- Automatic Mode Select (AMS): AMS automatically detects whether an incoming signal is FM or digital C4FM and switches the radio to the appropriate mode. This allows seamless communication between users, regardless of whether they are using analog or digital.
- Digital Voice Modes: Voice Wide (VW): This mode prioritizes voice quality by using the entire 12.5 KHz bandwith for digital voice, offering clearer communication. Voice Narrow (DN): This mode splits the 12.5 KHz channel into two 6.25 KHz segments, one for digital voice and the other for data transmission, such as transmitting GPS coordinates or text messages. Data Full Rate (FR): This mode uses the full 12.5 KHz bandwidth exclusively for data, which is useful for high – speed data transmissions.
- Group Monitor and Data Features: System Fusion allows for digital data transmission alongside voice communication, enabling features like GPS tracking, text messaging, and sending images. The Group Monitor function lets users keep track of multiplr stations within a group, displaying information such as distance and direction from other group members.
- Digital Group ID and Personal ID: Users can assign a Group ID for group communication, which filters communication so that only those with the same Group ID can communicate within that group. A Personal ID can be used for direct communication with a specific user within the group, ensuring that messages are received by the intended recipient.
- Wires – X (Wide – Coverage Internet Repeater Enhancement System): Wires – X is Yaesu’s internet linking system, allowing digital C4FM repeaters to be connected via the internet. This enables long – distance communication across different repeater, essentially creating a global communication network. Users can connect to specific rooms or nodes in the Wires – X network, which function like chat rooms for voice communication.
- Emergency Automatic ID (EAI): This feature allows a radio to automatically transmit its ID and location if the emergency button is activated, ensuring that the user can be located in case of an emergency.
How Yaesu System Fusion Works in Practice:
Mixed Mode Repeaters: System Fusion repeaters can handle both analog FM and digital C4FM signals. If a user transmits in analog, the repeater repeats the signal in analog. If another user transmits in digital, the repeater repeats it in digital. This flexibility allows for a smooth transition for clubs or groups upgrading from analog to digital systems. Operation: Users can choose their preferred mode (analog or digital) based on their equipment and communicating needs. When communication in digital mode, they can take advantage of features like clearer audio, simultaneous voice/data transmission, and the ability to connect through Wires – X for extended range communication. Networked Communication: Through Wires – X, users can connect their radios to repeaters linked to the internet, facilitating global communication. This is particularly useful for event, emergency communications, or just casual conversation with other amateur operators wordwide.
Yaesu System Fusion offers a robust and flexible solution for amateur radio operators, allowing them to maintain compatibility with existing analog systems while taking advantage of the benefits of digital communication.
